NIGHT EXPERIENCE AOSHIMA TIMELESS MOMENT

'Timeless moments'
of nature and culture at Aoshima -
one of Earth's miracles.

A truly miraculous island, created over a vast period of time and spanning 1.5 km, Aoshima is surrounded by rows of unevenly shaped rocks, formed over a period of six million years.
The island is home to some of the northernmost subtropical vegetation found in the northern hemisphere, and the entire island is enveloped in a landscape in which time appears to have stood still.

Millennia of untouched nature and sacred air seem to have been drawn together by Aoshima's folk deities, forging a superb combination of food and tradition that cannot be found elsewhere.

In only a moment, you will feel yourself become truly a part of Aoshima.

Nature, history, culture - and you.
When all these things overlap, an 'eternal moment' can be felt, awakening an ancient voice from within.

From this rare sensation, an evening like no other awaits you.

Based on ingredients local to Miyazaki, the restaurant combines only the freshest seasonal seafood and mountain produce, evoking both the climate and culture of Aoshima.
Featuring delicacies such as spiny lobster, blue fish and locally caught caviar, bartender Nagumo will also show you the appeal of 'hebesu' - a citrus fruit local to Miyazaki, which works perfectly in cocktails, allowing for a culinary experience that everyone can enjoy. The name of this tour may be 'Eternal Moments', but the courses have just as much to do with capturing the moments of the four seasons. It is my hope to share moments that can be savoured, one dish at a time.
Not only is Miyazaki my home, but Aoshima is also a very special place in Kyushu, and even throughout Japan.

An place steeped in mythology, the whole island of Aoshima was itself considered a sacred object of worship, with anyone but priests having been forbidden from entering the island right up until the year 1737.
It is a holy place, but at the same time, it has always been a place where children were welcome to come and play.
I myself was born and raised on Aoshima.
Living here, from deep within I feel a constant sense that no two days are ever the same.
The colour of the sunrise is different each day, And the setting sun watches over us as we pray for a peaceful end to each day, setting in a different place each day.
This is an island where 'eternal moments' can truly be felt. This is Aoshima.
Nurtured over many thousands of years, here nature, history and culture all merge perfectly together.

message

CShodo' Calligraphy originated from China, so it cannot truly be called a Japanese artform.
However, from its Chinese origins, a uniquely Japanese style of calligraphy took root.
Whereas in China, calligraphy is an academic discipline, In Japan, it is considered more spiritual.
I, for one, have always had a sense that there is a thread that runs through the core of my body - something I strive to remain conscious of when I take up the calligraphy brush.
I believe this is something everyone can experience.
Through breathing in and directing your thoughts, not only do you come face to face with the characters, but you also begin to search for answers within yourself. The sacred island of Aoshima truly is the perfect place to experience such a sense of spiritual unification.
As a native of Miyazaki, I also have fond memories of Aoshima - a very special place indeed.
The god of matchmaking is believed to be enshrined in Aoshima, so by all means, think of your beloved one as you take up the brush.
