Born in Miyazaki Prefecture, Kashiwada is the owner & head chef at Kasane in Akasaka, Tokyo.
Focusing on ingredients local to his native Miyazaki,
Kashiwada utilises seasonal ingredients to express the four seasons of Japan.
Holding a number of accolades, including Miyazaki Prefecture's ‘Miyazaki Ambassador - Food Evangelist’,
Hyuga City's ‘Hebesu Ambassador’, Fukushima Prefecture's ‘Fukushima Supporting Chef’,
and Toyama Prefecture's ‘Toyama Supporting Chef’,
in 2010 he was awarded the 'Culinary Masters' bronze award by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
In 2011, he was awarded a Michelin star.

Iwao became a qualified instructor
at the age of just 16, though he did not begin to
work professionally as a calligrapher until the age of 29.
Performing on the streets of Miyazaki, Japan,
Iwao has also performed in Paris -
exhibiting at the Japan Expo Paris in both 2018 and 2019.
